Everyone is welcome to participate in the first ever Manitoba Climate Change Teach-In. The main objectives of the teach-in are to:
1) Educate people about climate change science and urgency, as well as what personal, policy (international and domestic), and economic/ business action needs to be taken
2) Motivate people to encourage them that their actions would be meaningful and valuable
3) Activate people to take that action in individually and in concert with others
The teach-in will kick-off at 7pm* on Feb. 1st at the U of W Convocation Hall with a keynote address by Richard Littlemore, co-author of Climate Cover-up: The Crusade to Deny Global Warming. Following the keynote address and on Feb. 2nd (9:00am - 4:00pm), teach-in participants are welcome to engage in a diverse array of intriguing discussions and workshops. Specific discussions and presentations have been organized to appeal to diverse participant backgrounds. Whether individuals are skeptical of climate change science and/or policy, interested yet unsure of what to do, or actively pursuing climate change mitigation initiatives, participants will leave the teach-in empowered to take action against climate change!
*Time of keynote address is subject to change.
