Event Description

Join the Alice Chambers Memorial Book Club this month to discuss Jane Jacob's book The Nature of Economies.

If you're interested in ecology and/or economics, have a look at the book or come with some of your own thoughts and come out to share in the discussion and snacks.

The Nature of Economies can be borrowed for 1-week periods from the Alice Chambers Memorial Library at the Manitoba Eco-Network. Email library@mbeconetwork.org to reserve the book and drop by to pick it up from Monday-Friday, 9:00 - 4:30. The Nature of Economies is also available from the Winnipeg Public Library.

"Jacobs proposes a radical notion that has breath-taking common sense: economies are governed by the same rules as nature itself. Jacobs shows us that by looking to nature, we can develop economies that are both efficient and ecologically friendly.
The Nature of Economies is written in dialogue form: five intelligent friends discussing over coffee how economies work. The result is a wonderfully provocative, truly ground-breaking work by one of the great thinkers of our time."
