About “River on the Run Project”
The “River on the Run Project”, is a presentation of the Riverbank Savings and Loan, an artist collective that was formed in 2007. We have been focusing our attention on Lake Winnipeg and the Red River, discussing issues, sharing our work, and creating new work together based on our collective experience of living within this unique watershed. Our performance explores the beauty of this fragile environment and encourages us to see the lake and river in a new way. Through pictures, stories, poetry
and song, we investigate the bonds between human and nature, and the historical, mythical, political and economic relationship we have with water.
“The Red River is still running and the lake is lovely, reflecting changing weather and light, yet both are damaged, showing signs of harm and harm still being done. Witness the river system’s brokenness, yet celebrate the face of resilient beauty.”
