Hmmmm... what could I say in a school announcement?

Here's an idea of what you could say over the intercom at school. Tweak it how eve sure to follow up your announcement with instructions on how/where people can sign the Kyoto Plus petition!!

Climate change refers to changes in patterns of temperature, precipitation, seasons etc. Carbon Dioxide emissions are a major cause of unnatural to climate changes. The world is heating up at a dangerous rate and so it is important that we make changes to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide we release into the atmosphere. Canada has one of the highest carbon dioxide emission rates per capita in the world despite the fact that we’ve made an international promise to reduce our emissions. Canada signed something called the Kyoto Protocol over a decade ago in which we promised the rest of the world that we would reduce our emissions by 6% below 1990 levels by 2012. Presently we are at 22% over 1990 levels. At the rate we’re going, we will not meet the agreements that we signed onto. We are asking you all to help us draw attention to this issue by signing the Kyoto plus petition. It is meant to show the world that Canadian citizens are still committed to reaching the goals that we agreed to and to reinforce our concerns about climate change to our government. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard. Many other schools in Winnipeg are doing the same and we want to be sure that ours stands out above the rest!!!!!!!
