Suggestion: How to explain and approach people when you want them to sign…

Climate change is an issue that affects us all. Unfortunately, out of the world’s richest countries, Canada is one of the worst emitter of global warming pollution. This said, we have the chance to change all that and regain global respect in the upcoming UN climate talks. We have 3 weeks to send a strong message to our leaders, a message saying that we want Canada to do something about climate change. We are currently trying to gather as many signatures on the KyotoPlus petition as possible to send it off to our representatives before the UN summit; would you be interested in sinning? The more the better!

Here's another one:

Climate change refers to changes in patterns of temperature, precipitation, seasons etc. Carbon Dioxide emissions are a major cause of unnatural to climate changes. The world is heating up at a dangerous rate and so it is important that we make changes to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide we release into the atmosphere. Canada has one of the highest carbon dioxide emission rates per capita in the world despite the fact that we’ve made an international promise to reduce our emissions. Canada signed something called the Kyoto Protocol over a decade ago in which we promised the rest of the world that we would reduce our emissions by 6% below 1990 levels by 2012. Presently we are at 22% over 1990 levels. At the rate we’re going, we will not meet the agreements that we signed onto. We are asking you all to help us draw attention to this issue by signing the Kyoto plus petition. It is meant to show the world that Canadian citizens are still committed to reaching the goals that we agreed to and to reinforce our concerns about climate change to our government. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard.
