I noticed yesterday that it's been three months since the official launch of this site.
Since we brought this site live on October 29th, we've seen
over 80 members join, several dozens
events advertised, and many people who have made use of resource pages such as
Funding. Additionally, over 300 people have been notified of events through this site. Now we are averaging 30-40 unique visitors each day, and over 200 pageviews daily.
I'd call that a successful three months.
It's been a good start, but I think this site still has plenty of unexplored potential. I've heard people say that, because their group already has a website, they don't feel the need to create a group profile on this site. However, even if you already have a website, consider this:
by creating a group profile on this website, posting your events on the calendar, and blogging about what you've been doing, you can directly reach out to over 30 different people every day, people who are interested in environmental issues in Manitoba. That's a great opportunity for everyone: the people who are posting get a bigger audience, and can extend the reach of their cause, while the people who are reading can find out about events, places, and projects that interest them.
So if you haven't done so already, I suggest that you create a group profile if you belong to an organization. It's extremely easy: just click 'Groups' at the top of any page, and then click 'Add a Group'. It's a great way to attract more attendees to events, communicate with other environmentalists, and bring in new volunteers.
