The Manitoba Environmental Youth Network

Another last minute opportunity for any university students interested in campus sustainability!

The Sierra Youth Coalition (SYC) Prairies Chapter is hosting it's second annual Regional Sustainable Campuses Conference! Held at the University of Saskatchewan last year, it was a resounding success as the conference saw more than 100 post secondary students converge on Saskatoon for a weekend of education, inspiration and action. This is your chance to join in! We have some very exciting sessions on everything from Bike Advocacy to Green Building to Non Violent Direct Action. Also, Severn Cullis-Suzuki will be our Saturday keynote speaker. Everyone is welcome, and no prior experience is necessary.

Why? SYC has various chapters across Canada consisting of representatives from many post secondary institutions that work together encouraging local sustainability. This is hugely beneficial because geographical areas face similar issues locally and work together as a network of individuals (environmentalists) and collectives (organizations). The goal of this conference is to educate all interested students from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and provide them with tangible skills and opportunities to get involved in the green movement. Ultimately this conference provides them with the means to develop the knowledge and ability to work towards a more sustainable future and discover sustainable career opportunities.

* What the heck is billeting? For those who live in Edmonton, we are looking for volunteers interested in opening their homes to out-of town delegates for the Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday nights. If you are willing and able, please include the number of people that you can take and the address of your house in your registration.

Can't wait to see you there.
