MEIA Environmental Career Fair

The annual Manitoba Environmental Industries Association Environmental Career Fair will be happening this year at the UofW on Wednesday, March 2 from 12:30 to 4:30 in the Duckworth Centre.  The first MEIA Career Fair happened last year at the UofM.  This year's fair will be larger with approximately 42 booths and 4 breakout sessions happening simultaneously and there are prospects that there will be 400 attendees.  This is a unique opportunity for both environmental students and students of other faculties to learn about and plan for career opportunities after university, as well as to meet and connect with potential employers.  New this year, students can register in advance at http://envstudies.uwinnipeg.ca/career-fair-registration.htm to secure a seat in a breakout session.  In addition to informational section of the career fair, there will be a wine and cheese reception held afterward from 5 to 7 in Convocation Hall.  The career fair is student-run, with students volunteering from several post-secondary institutions.  This past Wednesday, a pizza party was held of the UofW to rally up the troops.  Student volunteers were informed about the finer details of the fair and signed up for specific jobs such as MCs for the breakout sessions, student ambassadors, set-up and tear-down, and postering.  The event is open to the public, free of charge and everyone is encouraged to come.  There will even be buses coming from various high schools, Brandon University, and Assiniboine Community College as well as "walking bus" happening from the UofM.  Check out the fancy poster at http://envstudies.uwinnipeg.ca/career-fair.pdf.
